Anybody else like to ride? It burns a few calories and has the added benefit that I get to spend time with a big, kind animal.

For riders - is there any ab work you do that helps? I'd love to add any core work that'll make me a better rider!

I love it! Riding seems to offer enough core work for me because you need to keep your balance atop the saddle. A physical therapist was training me at a gym/clinic but got called to the local hippo-therapy clinic. Long story short, I followed him into that setting, immediately learned how to ride a horse, and quickly learned to love it. I think I burn about 245 calories/session, but it doesn't even feel like a workout. Instead, it feels like my horse is treating me to a massage from the inside out because the movement takes so much pressure off my spine/back, which is always tense due to scoliosis. It seriously feels like I'm in Heaven each time I go (not that I know exactly what Heaven is like, but I think it's close enough)!

It's definitely good for balance. Posture, too!

Pilates is my go to workout for core. It makes me feel so much stronger on the horse.
