Anyone else overeat (or binge eat) when sick?

I thought it was allergies bothering me, but I realized yesterday that I have some sort of cold. I am feeling really sick and last night I beyond binged. I think I probably had about 1700 calories in one sitting. lol. And I wanted more. I haven't eaten much the last few days, so I am not too concerned, but it does irritate me. Anyone else have this problem? Eating was the only thing that made me feel better physically. I have no idea why lol Anyway, I enjoyed it so no regrets I was just curious if it's just me.

I wouldn't worry too much about excess calories if you're sick - let your body have the fuel it needs to fight the illness, and then get back to it when you're feeling better.

I hadnt eaten all day really anyway. I think something small earlier that day, if anything. So I didnt go too far imo even with all the crazy things I ate at night. Prob not much over 2000 calories if I even hit that for the day. Im not too worried I was just wondering if its a common thing or just my own weird tendencies. Thank you though :) It is better to be told do what you have to than judged and to have fingers shaken at me while Im ill Lol and I know how some mfp people can be

I always over eat when I'm sick regardless of the sickness. Mostly comfort eating cause I'm bored and feel sorry for myself, but it does make me feel better lol

If I have a cold, I like eating, too. Try to make smart choices - eat nutritious stuff first, treats later - and stick to goal as best you can. If you're in a deficit, consider switching your goals to maintenance while you're sick so you have a good idea of how many calories you can eat. Sure, your weight loss will probably slow down for a bit, but you'll most likely feel better more quickly and can get right back to plan.

I can't even look at food when I'm sick. Unless I have a really sore throat, in which case ice cream looks pretty good. Other than that, I just want to sleep.

Sometimes when my throat bothers me the only thing that makes it feel good again is swallowing food or drink. Halls doesn't touch it. When that happens I have to be sipping or nibbling on something constantly and sometimes I'll overeat. Otherwise, I usually way undereat. Either I'm nauseated and don't want to even think about food, or I feel crappy and turn to comfort food - chicken noodle soup or tomato soup. Both are low enough in calories I could have 13 cups and not have over eaten. I rarely even eat 1/4 of that.
