So I just got a huge craving for some mall Chinese food. I want it so bad that I can taste it. I check the carb courtier online for certain Chinese foods. And most of the foods I like are usually 520 mg of sodium or more. And I just cant justify all that sodium in my diet. Could eating Chinese food be used on my cheat day?

Do you have medical issues with regards to carbs or sodium?

I love Chinese food. I just watch my portion of rice, get something with lots of veggies, nothing deep fried or sweet and sour. It can be pretty reasonable.

I don't use cheat days....but I don't see why you can't eat it. Just be sure to drink plenty of water that day to help flush the sodium out.

I would make it fit my calories and pre-log what I'd have, drink lot's of water and have a plan for the hunger I will feel later. Chinese food is so great but leaves me hungry. I actually haven't had chinese food in over 1yr and a half... yikes! I think you can make it fit whatever you want to do. I know my cravings can get pretty intense sometimes. I try to make a homemade version and that helps a lot. But it's probably not going to taste the same...

Homemade sweet & sour is the only way I eat it now. I don't batter & deep fry (not necessary). I will use Splenda or Truvia instead of sugar. Mmmmm

First, unless you have a medical reason to limit your sodium intake I wouldn't worry about it. Also, a lot of Chinese restaurants in my area now have the option to reduce the amount of sodium added to their food. This might be something that you can look into if you like Chinese food but have a sodium restricted diet.

The Joy of Cooking has a similar recipe that is very good. I don't deep fry either, but I do use sugar.
