Anyone have their own Elliptical at home? If so, what kind do you have?

I have a gym membership and use it a great deal. However, I am looking to add an elliptical to the bonus room so that my wife or I can use it during the evenings or during a time that an extra workout can be taken advantage of. I am looking for a good one (something similar to what is in the gym). Was wondering if anyone had a good model or brand that they believe in and is durable.

Offhand, don't remember what brand we have, but it was a refurbished ex-gym unit. Ask the gyms in your area who the local supplier is -- that supplier often has good prices on the units the gym considers "end of life", but which usually have a lifetime of use left for a home user.

E95 Sole Elliptical is what my husband and I use. Dick's sporting goods delivered and installed it and we have a warranty and it works well. Very smooth machine with great workouts.

I have a Schwinn (I can get back to you with the exact model if you want). I like it. It's very sturdy at most speeds but when going faster it does tend to shake a little bit (I am 122 lbs for reference). However, I really don't need to go that fast to get a workout at my fitness level. Other than that it works like a charm and I love being able to work out at home!

We have an old Precor that I bought used for ~ $700 IIRC. Their base technology has changed very little over the years, mostly they have just added electronic gadgetry. Very, very well built. Highly recommended

I'll second that. There is a lot of commercial grade stuff on the market that is essentially the same machine, just with different displays and the like. We got a Precor machine years ago and it's a solid beast. The model we got quite some time back still sells for about the same price used. Plus any higher end machine has longer parts availability, sometimes has in home service available, etc.
