Hey all you cardio crazies....did you know playing a guitar can burn over 200 calories in an hour?

I wonder if brass burns more or less?

What if you can't play for an hour straight and end up hitting your notes too early? Is that less calories?

Probably. The article mentions a 150 pound player. Maybe more weight and faster play leads to an equal burn?

That makes sense. I bet if you're playing standing up, that's a better burn too.

I'm only here because I was hoping the title was misspelled. Very disappointed

I've also found that you can get some extra calories burned if you do some fingering exercises before you start actually playing. Plus they help with dexterity!

I've heard vigorous trombone playing can bump it up to 250 an hour from the increased arm motion.

What about the tuba? Larger mouth piece...but hey....more weight need to be nimble and literally march without seeing your feet. Sort of like working without a safety net.

My hometown was the home of "The Music Man"...I was once one of the "76 trombones leading the big parade"

Sadly it's not as much of a chick magnet as you might expect
