Intense cardio options for bad back?

I used to run to burn calories and lift to burn some more/tone, but ever since I found out I have Lymes Disease I am not able to be as active. My lower back is awful--bending forward is daunting. I am frustrated. What exercises can I do that will still get my heart up/sweat/feel good?

How bad is it to push through the pain and still run? What damage can I do? I think I'd fall off the treadmill anyways.

I am feeling defeated b/c I worked hard to lose weight and now it's slowly creeping on and the muscles I gained are turning into mush.

Advice appreciated, thanks.

Sometimes you just can't exercise. Your doctor can answer your specific questions. As far as gaining weight goes, you know that if you need to cut back on exercising you'll need to cut back on calories to maintain your weight loss. I'd look into any low impact exercises. There are YouTube videos of all sorts of alternative exercises for people. It may not be what you want, but it might be what you'll need to do for now.
