Hi there. I'm looking for some advices when it comes to protein powder/shakes or so. I want to start using it for building muscles, so everything you say, will be usefull.
Is it early to start at the age of 18? Which ones are you using?

I use protein powder because it's an inexpensive way to get protein without much fat / carb added. So if I need to get my protein number up then protein powder it is. I was eating a lot of egg whites but our chickens' production has gone down due to the time of the year.

I GNC amp pro performance and ON gold standard. Both are good.

Protein shakes will not "build muscles".

Appreciable muscular development will require a progressive program of resistance training and a calorie surplus.

Protein powder is simply a protein rich food source and a convenient way of hitting protein goals if you can't/don't want to hit those goals by eating other foods.

It's just food, not a magic way to build muscle.
A convenient supplement if you don't hit a reasonable protein goal through your usual food intake.

So rather than yes or no it's a maybe or a sometimes.

Of course it won't, they're not magic. Just a little help. Nutrition and workouts are already great.

    Thank you :)

If your great nutrition includes hitting your protein goal (assuming it's an appropriate protein goal of course!) then it becomes a no.
Personally I might have about one a week.

Protein powder will only be beneficial if your protein is low, but if as you say your nutrition is great then you won't need it :)
It won't build muscle for you it's only a supplement to supplement a deficiency in the diet!....that being said I use it to boost my protein intake as its a yummy convenient way of doing so!!

Yummy is right. I <3 my chocolate peanutbutter protein oatmeal. It's like my favorite breakfast ever.
