A true tabata is all out 20 seconds on, 10 seconds off for 4 minutes. You shouldn't be able to function after that but the tabata "style" workout, I really enjoy. I do try to really push it for the entire 20 seconds, every 20 seconds.

It's super intense but I enjoy the challenge. :)

Yes! LOVE Tabata!! I do 30 second workout, 15 second rest for 10 minutes. Really hard, but it is really good! Tata is High Intensity Interval Training and burns fat quicker. I love it!

There are few who can do TRUE Tabata. You're talking about 100% effort on every 20 second blitz and even elite endurance athletes have a tough time doing it. Most people would gas out and reduce their effort after the 3rd set.
Most people end up doing HIIT at possibly 85% effort if they are attempting "Tababta" at a gym.

Then it's not Tabata. It's interval training. Also you don't burn more fat using high intensity workouts since glycogen is the preferred energy source.
There's a lot of misinformation and deception in the fitness industry about how programs actually work physiologically and it's a disservice to the actual gentlemen who created the protocol.

Yeah, I do HIIT, but Tabata is a very brutal set of intervals, even for HIIT.

My current go-to is 30/20/10, which is 30 seconds low intensity, 20 moderate, 10 all-out effort. I do 3 sets of 5, with two minutes low intensity between. I'm thinking of moving to a more intense regimen soon, though, as I don't really want to add a fourth set (just for silly reasons of not wanting the extra 7 minutes of workout time) but I feel like I could do more than what I'm doing now.
