Making the most of my treadmill exercise?

Options
I want to make the most of my treadmill excercise. I am currently walking at a brisk pace 60 minutes a day, increasing the speed and incline every 10 minutes. I am just getting back to excercising again and want to get the most out of my workout so I can to support my weight loss goals.
Which is most effective:
a) maintaining a steady pace and incline
b) greater incline lower speed
c) greater speed lower incline
d) changing speed and incline...mixing both speed and incline
or is the effectiveness all about the same and doesn't really matter?

A higher intensity for a larger amount of time will burn more calories (i.e. high incline and faster speed, as high as you are confident going). That being said, I've found intervals to be very effective for me. I find that if I'm forced to sustain to high level of intensity for too long I'm more likely to cut my workout short. By changing up the speed and intensity I can push myself to complete the high intensity intervals with out "phoning it in" because I know that I will get to slow down after x number of minutes.
