Squats, show me your progress!

I really wanna know if anyone has got noticeable results.
If you squat often, please post a picture and motivate me! (With details)
Ah also, squats related question, is doing 25 rep of basic squats x 4 more effective, or 10 reps of 5 different types of squats x 4 more effective?

once you get past being able to do 15 reps, you are not really working on strength, or muscle development anymore, you move in the territory of muscular endurance.

If you want results from squats I suggest you get under a bar and continually increase the weight as you get stronger.

Whoops, didn't mean to sound creepy.
Re-reading my post, yeah sounds creepy okay.
Sorry guys, just needed it for motivation, not boooty pics, whole body pictures.
No pictures even, just tell me have you seen results? If so, how?
Just a curious post. Not a pervert, I promise

I had been running a dumbbell only full body routine for almost a year. (We have the Bowflex SelectTech dumbbells that go up to 50lbs each.) I kept making upper body progress, but the dumbbells were cumbersome and just became too heavy to lift to make anymore lower body progess and I began doing different variations of squats, lunges, etc. But I was really just spinning my wheels. To the point where I rejoined the gym.

Since I had been awkwardly squatting with 25lb dumbbells, I started on the Smith machine (mostly in case my form had suffered) with about 70lbs, but in just a few weeks I moved to the rack and have been squatting 90lbs. And I hope to up weight today.

It's not even a lot of weight, as far as squats go, but the point is I am making much quicker progress this way. And already I find myself doing double takes when I pass the mirror in our bedroom.

    Bump

Would be cool to see some before and afters! I'd be more convinced if the pics came from MFP rather than the really suspect ones you can see searching google images...

(Also not a creep! lol) :)

@Fursian exactly the reason why I posted this. I don't trust google images.

Go to the Success forum. There's a thread titled something like "lifting made me supah bulking" and one titled something like "ladies lifting heavy." You might see what you want there.

If this is where you want to draw motivation from, its not likely to be a long lasting solution. Look inside and find out why YOU want to do this, look up Bret Contreras and begin your booty building journey.

I am on the left in both pictures. A friend & frequent work out partner is on the right. We do crossfit which includes lots of squats of all kinds. I am 47 and she is 50.

I can't squat because of kneecap problems. But I do Bret's suggested weighted glute bridges as well as a few other targeted lifts (similar to cable kickbacks) I've always liked. I gained an inch (!) in the derriere from spring to fall doing the lifts and eating at maintenance and just above.

I have to admit that I stopped eating above maintenance since fall. I got scared of my other measurements going up any. I know that's silly, but I'll try again after I know it's not just holiday excess making my weight go up, lol. I've never bulked before.
  • Booties aside, for me squat progress has been all about hitting depth over butt mass.

This is from January 2015. 225 lbs for reps. Here’s the whole embarrassing set.

My set-up took forever and my shoes sucked booty.

Fast forward to two weeks ago. 325x8. Much quicker set-up, still hit depth.

Thanks, @jemhh, I'll check those threads out! :)

The pics and videos posted above are all very much appreciated, you all look fantastic.

I guess my own curiosity with this is that nobody around me (in real life) has took on squats and the like, so I kinda was left to believe that the results I've seen were unobtainable, especially for certain backside shapes, at least. Having said all this, the Success Stories section of this forum has shown me, on a number of occasions, so much that can be done with the body that I didn't think was possible. So there's hope for a lot of things, and that's motivational!

    Squat is my favourite lift

I've only just returned to it from enforced lifting ban for months due to injury

Im squatting 3 sets of 12 reps at 75kg (165lbs) which is my kinda progress :)

There's a progress shot in my profile if you want ..it's the one with rabbit on it, not the one with the scales of fat v muscle ...that one isn't me it's google
