I have been having an elbow issue on my grabbing and pulling movements that is really bothering me. I have done 10 days of predizone and it helped for a while I have done some reverse wrist curls with a 5 lbs weight and the rubber band finger extensions which all help but I have never used straps and thought I would ask here..

Thank you.

The pain is localized around the back of your arm or the front of your arm?

Okay, it sounds like the pain is being experienced during exercises requiring elbow flexion, curls, rows, pull-ups, etc. You should probably lay-off from such exercises for a week or two until the discomfort goes away and then re-incorporate them. Straps could help for exercises in which the brachiallis is isometrically loaded such as in the deadlift, but they probably won't help much during elbow flexion because the brachiallis is required to aid in flexing the arm at the elbow joint. Make sense? Try it for yourself and see, perhaps relieving some of the pressure from the grip could help; it's hard to say until you try. Ideally I would suggest taking a breather from some of those exercises.

The biggest thing that helped me in this situation was switching to neutral grip for exercises like this. Plus using compression on the painful points (cuffs or sleeves). Straps can help to a degree as well (at least they helped me). I ended up having to lay off pull-ups completely (haven't done any in 6 months) because they were so rough on my golfer's elbow.

Maybe you're overpulling with your biceps? For each rep to start focus on pinching your back together and initiating the pull with your lats and delts. You can also try going thumbless, I've been told from other lifters it can help disengage the bicep a little.

You probably hit it on the head with form I have always been a fanatic for form but three months ago started wrapping 25lb chains around my the back of my neck and more than likely injured myself getting out of form doing pull ups. I do all my lifts with my thumbs in the same position or side as my fingers is that what your referring to as thumbless? I'm going to take two weeks off I haven't taken a week off in years more than likely need it..

Thank you for your time as a professional and member I read your profile its awesome your following your dream!!

Thanks Mike. Well, maybe thumbless is also very individual. So much of this stuff is not so much science even though there's a while study on the subject matter (Exercise Science). Taking some time off is a good thing sometimes; I know I love my deload weeks these days.
