Wrapped up like a douche, another roller in the night...

This song to me is about a housewife who wears rollers and they fall out at night and she's sleeping in her robe instead of PJ's so she can get the baby in case he cries with her robe already on. That robe is why she's wrapped up like a douche, because the robe is uncomfortable (like a douche) as is the light from the bathroom that blinds her every time she gets up.

What does this song mean to you? And due to what interpretations of the lyrics?

I had a girlfriend who thought "how my poor heart aches" in Every Breath You Take was "I'm a pool hall ace".

Then she lit up a candle and she showed me the way
There were horses down the corridor,
I thought I heard them say...

Hey, I was a 7 year old, horse-crazed little girl when it came out...what can I say?

I looked up the Wiki on this song. Interestingly it was written and originally released by Bruce Springsteen. He needed another single for his album and wrote the song while going thru a rhyming dictionary. Nothing really made sense, it just rhymed. The original lyrics were "cut loose like a deuce". Manfred Mann then rereleased it, with changing the lyrics to "revved up like a deuce" but because he had a lisp, it came out sounding like douche. Bruce joked that only after the controversy over the feminine hygiene product, did the song become popular. lol

Also, I know most people confuse the line "Hold me closer, tiny dancer" with "Hold me closer, Tony Danza." But am I really the only one who heard "The words she knows, the tune she hums" as "The words she knows, the Jews and Huns"? Am I alone? Please tell me I'm not...

Oh, and because we're on the topic:

A slew of hilariously misheard song lyrics! There's also a 2012 edition, but I didn't find it nearly as funny. Probably because I didn't know many of the songs...

And you come to me on a submarine, keep me warm in your love then you soft-lay leave...

Love the BeeGees and their reverence for The Beatles.

ETA: OP asked for interpretations of "Blinded by the Light," so I can add this: I had no freaking idea what those lyrics were, so I interpreted it all as mostly Springsteen on acid. (I'm from PA, so I knew it was a Springsteen song...from an early age, I had the greatness of Bruce drilled into my skull...)
