21 day fix??

I'm contemplating on getting this program. I've been told though that it's no different then counting calories... It's $160 for the prgam. Any input is appreciated

Buy a food scale instead, about $15.0

It's only that much with the Shakeology. If you're just wanting the portion control aspect of the program, look on Pinterest for the measurements. I love it because you DON'T have to count the calories. Just abide by the food list and number of containers daily. The exercise videos are very doable and in combination with the containers, results will be seen!0

Personally, I'm not a fan.
I don't think it's sustainable or necessary. Back when it was harder to find calorie counts and tedious to keep a hand written calorie log, the containers and point systems made more sense. Counting calories was a lot of work.
Now, calorie counts are easy to find. A food scale helps to be accurate with calorie counting even when making new foods at home. And MFP makes logging and tracking really simple. The other programs are obsolete now that calorie counting is so easy.0 -
I have a couple of friends who have done really well on the program. I believe you can buy the system and workouts for $60 (and probably cheaper used on Ebay). It's only if you buy the Shakeology and/or become a coach that it's like double that cost. I'm buying it after the holiday without Shakeology...even though I've lost 70 pounds just watching calories.
It IS basically just calorie restriction. I mean - all weight loss programs are created by folks out to make money. But I don't think that makes it a bad system. If you struggle with WHAT to eat and HOW MUCH to eat, it will retrain your pallet and your mindset. So in that sense I think it could be a useful tool for the right person. Plus there are like a billion recipe websites out there I use all the time and I'm not even doing 21 day fix.
Outside of that, I would look at it as a tool and nothing more. It's not the ONLY way to lose weight and it may not be right for everyone. But it could be helpful for you. Just my two cents.0 -
You could get dollar store containers and use them instead as long as you get the right sizes, and you can look up the acceptable food lists online:
Green 8oz —Vegetables
Purple 8oz —Fruit
Red 6oz —Protein
Yellow 5.3 oz—Carbohydrates
Blue 2.7oz—Healthy Fats and Cheese
Orange 2oz—Seeds and Oils
Daily: 3 green, 2 purple, 4 red, 2 yellow, 1 blue, 1 orange, 2t oil0
