Why am I not hungrier when I exercise?

My typical workout is 500-600 calories worth, and I exercise 6 times a week. Yet, I've noticed, that I do not get hungrier when I work out and my body seems perfectly content with the 1,600 calories that I would eat on a rest day, or during the stretches when I don't work out.

I find it kind of odd - I would expect the exercise to have an impact on appetite...

Thoughts?

It varies person to person. Some people find no difference, some people are starving after they workout, and some people have no appetite after they workout.

I can't answer that scientifically for you, but I have noticed the same thing. With one caveat - this is specific to cardio. With weight training I find I am RAVENOUS. With cardio it doesn't seem to make much of a difference, at all. I'd be curious to know why too.

I have that same thing, never been able to up the amount I eat. But what I do know is when I, sitting around doing nothing I'm more hungry, I think when I'm not activity or bored my mind just skips over to hmmm coffee, wine or whatever food lol.
That's just with me personally, the more I do the less I eat.

Your body is probably seeking stored fat to consume. If you are getting all the nutrition and meeting the macros, your body probably wont be hungry :)

I ALWAYS listen to my body. If I feel hungry, I try water, if it don't go away with water, it's time for a snack. No problem.

How much protein are you getting? That stopped my hunger pains.

These days I eat every three hrs and wait 2 hrs after eating to exercise. When I'm finished it's food time again for me and yep my belly says feed me. I think our bodies may get use to eating patterns.

    cardio, i'm less hungry.
lifting, more hungry but only if it's 'heavy' weights
rest days, often more hungry, but not ravenous as I would be from lifting.

My BodyMedia always indicates a higher calorie burn the day after vigorous exercise, I guess increase in metabolism and cals used for the body's repair?
