Is there a way to accurately tell how many calories you burn doing strength training? Like squats, bench press, dead lift?

not really...there are too many variables. a lot of people who spend a good deal of time in the weight room just use the TDEE method to work around this. before i switched to the TDEE method i just chalked it up to and extra 250 calories or so for an hour of work.

also, a HRM is not going to be accurate for anaerobic activity...they are only relatively accurate for steady state aerobic activity.

If you are reasonable with your breaks and push yourself, then using MFP's strength training selection under cardio is going to be as close as anyone will be able to guess. I have been using it for 7 months and find it accurate enough.

It burns about enough to cover your post-workout protein shake. More or less.

I wear a heart monitor occasionally to see where I am at. I usually burn more lifting than with the small amount of cardio that I do.
