Losing Inches, But Not Pounds

I have been as accurate as I can be without using a food scale for saying what I have eaten (I know that's problem number one, but I asked for one for Christmas, so I am going to have to wait at least until then to get one). I should have hypothetically lost something by now, but I haven't yet. I am trying to lose 1kg a week. I am 172cm tall and weigh 85kg roughly. I gained weight last week and lost it again this week, but I have lost around 5cm on my waist, and 5cm on my chest, 2cm on my hips. Is it possible that I am gaining more muscle than I am losing fat?

It's highly. ....highly doubtful that you're gaining muscle and losing fat. With that said, that's not necessarily a bad thing. The tape measure is a much better indicator of progress than the scale.

What does your current workout routine look like? Did you just start withing the last month?

So what is the issue here? You are loosing inches, clothes are fitting better. Do you want the inches back and have a smaller number on the scales? Stop being so obsessed about the weight, it is only a number. Personally I'd much rather loose inches, and shrink down than to just loose pounds on the scales.

My workout includes swimming 3 times a week for 20-30 minutes. I run 3 times a week on week 3 of the C25K app. I have a three day cycle for other exercises including dumbbells and body weights one day I work my chest and arms and core, the second day I work my core and legs, the third day I rest. I do Fitstar routines daily. Every so often I will add a fitness blender YouTube video or another fitness YouTube video. I have been doing the Fitstar and running for three weeks, but the other things have been for about a year. I have one rest day a week. This has been my usual for about a year, but admittedly I sometimes swim during rest days.

Edit: @Bonny132 it isn't an issue per say, I just wanted to know if anyone could tell me why this is :P
