Bad side effects after quitting Dairy!?

Hi there! This is a little bit gross.. I recently went off dairy products as I thought it would help in my weight loss. I was previously a total dairy addict! I have been off it now for a week and 2 days after quitting I've been getting the runs really bad! I'm not sure if it has anything to do with quitting dairy, otherwise I feel pretty good besides to cravings. Has anyone else experienced this?
THANKS!
Rara

What did you replace the dairy with?

Sounds like an intolerance to your substitute

    Perhaps you should switch back

It has nothing to do with quitting dairy, probably coincidental, unless you decided to replace dairy with something that happens to not agree with your stomach. You really don't need to go off dairy to lose weight. I drink 2-3 glasses of milk every day + other dairy products like yogurts and cheese. They help me stay full and reach my protein goal. My weight loss is consistent and I consume food from all groups and sources.

Look at the ingredient list of your replacement beverage. If it contains carrageenan, that may be the culprit. My son had a similar situation when he started drinking a lot of soy milk that contained carrageenan. He started making his own soy milk and the problem went away.

That is what I was thinking too.

Also, dairy doesn't stop weight loss...

Dairy doesn't prevent bowel problems. As others have said, this might be related to a food you have replaced dairy with (have you added anything new to your diet). Or it could be unrelated.

Carrageenan. Is this in your ingredients list? It makes me 100% sick for hours.
Skim milk has protein and calcium that a girls body needs. Not that evil.

Dairy is used to turn a calf into like half a ton in a year.

I really think your body is detoxing and adjusting to the change.

So, people should not drink milk because cows weigh more than humans. Solid logic, but not surprising since you also suggest a detox...

Well, a calf drinks 1-2 gallons per day. Something tells me the OP isn't consuming quite that much.

That's a calf drinking full cream milk........if you consumed as many calories per day as a calf did you'd get up there too.....

Specifically what toxins? Detoxing is a meaningless phrase........

vegetable purees are used to double, sometimes triple, the weight of a human being in a year! Ban all vegetables!

My son and I both have OP's reaction when consuming soy-based beverages. I'd look into the substitute. I also eat dairy as part of my plan. As long as you count the calories as part of the goal, there's no problem with dairy; it's a good source of calcium and protein.

I'm down for banning some... I mean cauliflower... that *kitten* can just go straight away. No one needs that in their life. I've never tasted a veg that tasted so much like sadness in my life.

I try to eat enough protein and filling/satisfying food. What that means is diff for everyone and I like a protein shake, toast with PB, oatmeal, eggs, raw veggies, and green salad throughout the day, as examples. I minimize sugars, bread, pasta because they tend to cause cravings.

So dairy is a magical ingredient? I mean since it couldn't possibly be the amount the calf is consuming or anything. :indifferent:

Yeah, not too many days over 1000 calories for that gal.

Because that calf wouldn't otherwise grow into a full-sized cow, right? What would happen to it if it didn't ingest dairy? Would it turn out to be a petite, slender, fashion model cow instead?

Besides, it's good to look at the positive side of things - that half-ton animal makes for a lot of tasty, delicious MEAT for us to eat.

I apologise, I'm really sorry. I didn't mean to come across so harsh. Its just that I've watched earthlings conspiracy forks over knives and a bunch of others... all I know is we all here trying to do our best ...my family are all meat eaters... And yes I have no right to be disrespectful to anyone. But to learn to love and accept everyone and realise we are all different. So I'm sorry I don't know what came over me. I just strongly believe that specieism is wrong and sometimes I feel bitter and I shouldn't have taken it out here. Lol about the calorie thing ... I don't record a lot of my food but yeah I don't exceed 1200calories. Don't know if I should? :#

If you want to learn, dont watch documentaries as they are now for entertainment than anything else.

Second, most people need more than 1200 calories unless they are in their 50s + and very sedentary. But to answer that question we would need you height weight age and workout plan. It is also helpful to know if you have medical conditions and how active you are outside of exercise (desk job, waitress, etc...)

50+ and very sedentary? Unless very sedentary is coma patient style sedentary, even 50+ generally need more that 1200 for proper energy intake and nutritional requirements. Height plays a much bigger role than age. You could make the generalization for women under 5', over 50 and sedentary but not really for all people 50+ across the board.
