New joiner - may need support

Hi, I have been on MFP before but haven't really used it much, probably because I didn't really take the time to see what it was all about. I have gone back into my profile, updated it with my current weight (cry) and am intending on keeping track properly of what I eat and what exercise I do. I have had weight issues all of my adult life. I go from one extreme to the other. I either eat crap and do no exercise or over exercise and restrict my food so that, yes I lose weight and keep it off for a while but find it is unsustainable. I have tried every diet going, hoping to find one where I don't have to calorie count and weigh and measure food. Low carb, no carb, slimming world, cabbage soup,slim fast to name a few. The only time I really do lose weight is if I calorie count, so have come back to it.

I have just ordered a fit bit. It arrives tomorrow, so am hoping that with both that and MFP I will be able to get the weight off. I have 5 stone to lose, but I know i can do it. I lost that amount many years ago. Hopefully having the fit bit will encourage me to do more steps, be more active etc. I am quite competitive with myself so am likely to want to increase my steps etc so if I haven't reached what I want i can go on the treadmill or for a walk.

I hope to see some like minded people on here to help me get started.
