Oatmeal calls:dry or cooked?

Ok I am probably being dense but...when the package says (for example) 150 cal for 40g, does this mean BEFORE you cook it, or after? Because it expands and retains water after, so it's much heavier. Thx!

If it doesn't specify, then that's dry weight.

before. 40g is the dry weight. On pretty much everything you're going to cook, unless it specifically says the serving size is for the cooked product, you are supposed to weigh it as-is. So: dry oats, raw meats, uncooked pasta, etc.0
