Having health-conscious family members visiting for the holidays, please share easy healthy snacks +

Not the traditional veggie platter or hummus or other standard easy fare. The family member visiting are also kind of 'fancy' and a veggie platter would be boring. They like different, but also are very health-conscious, which I can totally agree with and appreciate!
I am okay to make something, or just buy something. Thanks!!

Hi:
I suggest to ask your relative about his/her favorite snack.
Maybe s(he) can even bring the platter themselves. LOL
if not, ask them for a recipe.0 -
Maybe some cool looking fruit skewers? Nuts, dark chocolate, meats, cheese, grapes, wine platter? Something wrapped in bacon?0

What about a flatbread pizza? Just spread garlic cream cheese over the flatbread and top with colorful veggies. Small bits of broccoli, red onion, yellow and red peppers and cherry tomato halves go really well.
Another easy/fancy appy is to make little skewers of cherry tomatoes, tiny bocconcini balls and fresh basil leaves. Then drizzle with a balsamic vinegar reduction (you can buy it thicker too).0 -
Tell them bring your own healthy snack. Happy holidays.0

Carrots.
See, that was NOT a veggie platter!0 -
I have been wanting to make this: http://www.madiganmade.com/2013/07/watermelon-feta-and-mint-salad-bites.html (I was thinking balsamic vinegar instead of white wine vinegar).0

Healthy means different things to different people. You should probably find out what they mean.
I don't thing a veggie tray is boring for a snack. You can try a variety of vegetables, olives, pickles.
Stuffed mushrooms, peppers or tomatoes
You can make different kinds of hummus if plain hummus is boring.

Sometimes it is hard to please everybody. Guess I will not go overboard worrying about it or making different things. Thanks again!!

Personally, I'd just go with the veggie platter. Get one made up by your local deli. In fact, check several delis in your area and see what variety they might have. We were astonished by what the local Woolworths deli produced for us for a party a couple months ago. I was expecting something about half the size and rather sad-looking, but got something enormous and really well done.
Places like bakeries (including Subway) also do up platters. Check around ... you might be able to get a platter done with small whole wheat and chicken sandwiches or something.0 -
I'd do a meterranean plate with hummus, baba ganoush dip, cucumbers, olives, red peppers, whole wheat pita chips. Healthy, easy, and much fancier0

I like deviled eggs made with greek yogurt instead of mayo with curry in them and sri racha on top...also pears or beet slices with goat cheese and pistachio on top!0

Oh By the way, don't forget - even health conscious people may be looking forward to decadent food during the holidays0

Some great ideas, thanks everyone!!

Id do a cheese and olive platter, a feta fruit salad and a veggie platter with an awesome dip (like a ratatouille dip).0

I had really good guacamole once made with avocado, Greek yogurt, and lemon. I'm sure you could find a recipe for something like that on Pinterest. I've also had warmed hummus, which is good. Both dips can be eaten with veggies instead of chips or pita.0

Also, tabouli, babaganoush...sp?0

I googled "healthy cocktail party" and got a ton of ideas you might like to try.
How about sushi? Shrimp anything. Small bites served in Chinese spoons. Cucumber and cream cheese rolls....0 -

My mother is really fussy and has a medical condition.
She called to give me a list of what she will and will not eat. Yes to certain fruits, nuts, yogurt, some veggies, low fat crackers. I will have them in the fridge and let her figure out what to do with them.0
