Walking for 30 minutes or OK to break up?

I began my exercise program 3 weeks ago and started by setting a goal of exercising 3 times a week. I began by walking 15 minutes in the morning around an indoor track and another 15 minutes in the afternoon 5 days a week. Each time, I am walking about .80 of a mile. This week, I have increased by time to 20 minutes each session.

My question is this: is splitting my walking into 2 sessions beneficial or just as beneficial as if I were doing 1 walk for 30 minutes a day?

Thanks!

More beneficial to walk it all at once. You burn more calories this way because your heart rate is elevated the whole time, versus being elevated the same amount of time, but separately...so it can't climb and burn you more calories. Also think about lifting weights - even little ones... 2 lbs at a time, or 5 if you can start there - because muscle burns fat!

It would be better to do all at once, but hey, you are doing something!
