Making progress...and I'm not alone!

I'm just feeling super positive this morning. I am 7 pounds down since starting my half marathon training program (total of around 100 pounds total lost), and the training is going great. But today I'm more excited about something else. I am doing this training as well as a 10k and a half marathon with my girlfriend. I have spent a good part of this year doing a variety of training, running my first 5k, and my first mud run in addition to dropping a good deal of weight. As of two weeks ago I started the half marathon program and she is jumping in and starting from scratch. In the few weeks that we've been at it she has already seen great improvements in her running ability, strength (from our strength training days), as well as dropping some weight and having noticeable progress in her "before" and "during" pictures. She is already pushing me, suggesting we get out more for runs, pushing me to eat better, and just generally being excited and motivated about the whole process. I couldn't ask for a better partner in this, and we are getting stronger every day both physically and as a couple. I asked her to trust me and let me guide her through this since I have been at it for a while and had great results, but to be honest she is quickly becoming a serious motivational force. I am so excited to see what she is capable of, because I think it is more than she even imagines. The half marathon is just a stepping stone, a goal to stay focused on for the time being, but it isn't the end. Once we conquer this one, we will reevaluate and move on to the next. I have triathlon goals later in the year, and who knows what else we will get into. But one thing is for sure, this summer we will be on a beach somewhere relaxing without worrying about taking shirts off, high waisted swimsuits, cover ups, etc. In my whole life I have never been to a point where I was comfortable at the beach or pool or the like, and she has struggled with body image since having two kids, but this is our year! I am so excited to be going through this with her, and I am so proud of her.
