I se a Tanita which measures fat and water as well as pounds. I'm aware that most people say the fat isn't accurate but what about the water? Also, if the same scale shows a consistent drop in fat, can I consider that as progress?

Yes - although not super accurate on fat %, I have found them to be very consistent if used same time of day first
thing in the morning after voiding, AND if you spray some water on contacts to keep skin moisture contact consistent. This will show your fat trend (up or down).0
