In need of motivation!!!!

Hello friends!!!!!
So I have been on this site off and on for about a year or more...not really sure....for the past 2 years I have been gaining and losing the same 15 pounds or so....I usually would work out strong for a month, and then become discouraged because the scale hasn't moved like I wanted it to....so THIS time arond I was more determined because sometimes you get sick and tired of being sick and tired....and two, a friend of mine lost a whole lot of weight this past year...and I wouldn't say she has a superior attitude about it; but she did say something that just rang true in my head and motivates me to press forward....we agreed one day to go work out, then she cancelled because it was raining....THEN turned around and posted on her FB "If I waited for a workout buddy I would still be 230lbs!!!"....then she said nobody ever sticks with it....that in my mind, made me feel like I was a quitter....and I couldn't get mad because she was right!!!! I WOULD go strong (like alot of other people I know) for a short period of time, and then give up!!!! Well this time around I am DETERMINED not to give up!!!!! And I started off small....started with a 30day squat and ab challenge...completed that....and I just completed month 1 of the Hip Hop Abs program...started eating more fruits, veggies and lean dairy...and cut back on the alcohol and sweets...I still allow some indulgence if it is within my calorie guidelines...and the first week I lost 4.8lbs (yay), 2nd week 1.6, 3rd week 1.4, and this week...I am thinking I am lucky to lose a pound!!!!
So here is where the self-doubt and questioning myself comes into play.
Yes, I will have lost a few inches and almost 10lbs....but the scale is showing less and less results....I know people say throw the scale away, but I just can't seem to bring myself to do it!!!! I just need to know how people who have been in my shoes are getting past this phase? Because I know that's what it is....and it's not about the scale....it's about getting stronger and healthier....but at the same time I am HUMAN...and we all have doubts...just curious as to how someone who has gone through this (because everyone does) got PAST it to perservere?

Look at what u have accomplished so far in a month-u lost inches and almost 10lbs. Plus u r adding in a bunch of healthy habits. I really believe slow and steady wins the race:) I know when i first started my journey I whined to my doc i wasn't losing fast enough. Well in less than a month I was down 10-12 lbs, but all i could do was focus on the day to day numbers. She also told me that I should aim for a 1 lb lose every week. I laughed out loud at her, gave her I am a big girl speech, telling her how I can afford to lose more than 1 lb a week, blah, blah, blah. She looked at me and said, well we want it to stay off as well. I am not sure how much u have to lose but this is what I do and it seems to work for me. I have a list of BIG goals that I want to accomplish, like 25 lbs, 50lbs stuff like that. BUt then every month i make a list of mini goals. I aim for 8 lbs lost (yes i am human and we all want that darn scale to reflect a huge number:) ) and to be honest I hope it will b more, and then I post 4-5 other goals that I know I need a little more work on like making sure I drink my water, getting so many workouts in a week-stuff like that. I also only record my weigh ins every month-i like to see a BIG number and the way that the body works some weeks i wouldn't get a huge number on the scale, so seeing 6, 8, or 9 lbs was more motivating than 1.2 lbs lost. I also take my measurements every month, for the same reason to see big numbers:) REMEMBER U LOST ALMOST 10 LBS AND THAT IS AWESOME:)0

Hi!!!! Thanks for your response!!!! Yes, it is great and after I wrote this....I decided take a picture of myself and compare it to the pictures I took day one and wow!!!!! What I noticed the most was that my butt was lifted and definitely more shapely!!!! And yes I do try to make the smaller goals....I document EVERYTHING!!!! That is where I went wrong before....I was looking at the BIG picture and not the small things I accomplished!!! Thanks so much for the words of encouragement!!!! :happy:0
