Before & After - Inches Matter! Not the scale.

Hey Everyone!

I just wanted to share my story to everyone who struggles with the scale. I started working out back in August 2012 and I haven't stopped since. I came across many obstacles which almost ended my journey to a healthier me but I stuck to it. Here is a time line of my never-ending journey to a healthier life.

SW: 160lbs
CW:145lbs
GW: 125lbs

*August 2012 - September 2012
Started back at the gym at 5am before work and joined MFP.
Started weightlifting - found a program on Bodybuilding.com and stuck to it.
Started a 3-Month Biggest Loser competition with my friends.

*October 2012 December 2012
Started running 5ks in the Fall horrible pain in my bunions decided to visit a podiatrist.
12/12/12 - Won my first Biggest Loser competition
12/18/12 - Had both bunions removed at the same time and couldn't workout for 12 weeks.
I was worried about gaining the weight while I was immobile and decided to focus on clean eating.
Quinoa, Flax-seed, Couscous, etc. were all new ingredients I introduced to my life.

*January 2013 to February 2013
Started doing at home workouts which didn't need the use of my feet.
Arm workouts, Stance push-ups, leg kickbacks

*March 2013 to June 2013
Made it back to the gym (weightlifting) - no running (only bicycle)
April & May - started using the elliptical and continued weightlifting.
June - Did my first 8k run in 58 minutes.

I am addicted to the gym, my next focus is eating better.

I know this is what is holding me back but I am a big believer in slow and steady will win the race!

Current Wins at the Gym:

Free Squat: 185lbs
Stiff-legg Deadlifts: 135lbs
Bench: 115lbs
Unassisted Dips: 3x10
Pull-ups: 11

Lost 8 inches from my waist since August 2012. Down a total of 15lbs.

Thank you! I had to get them removed. Dr. said my bunions were equivalent to a woman who lived for 40 years. :-/

Luck you! Hold out, the recovery was very tough and I was fortunate enough to have my husband tote me around.

This is so encouraging, and you look fantastic! Tape measures are better friends than scales in my opinion. :)

Add me to the list that has bunions. I gave up running 2 years ago due to bad knees agravated by overuse(I was at my goal weight then). Started cardio, strength training, etc... in January and after losing maybe 20 out of the 40 lbs I regained, I found I could run with minimal knee issues. UNFORTUNATELY, now my bunions hurt. OW! I am not quite ready to go with surgery. I can walk with minimal pain(as long as I'm wearing good shoes/sandals) but the pounding from powerwalking/jogging/running hurts. I used to be a New Balance fan but recently found Saucony Cohesion shoes provide a lot of cushion and feel so much better! I'm limiting my running because of my knees and bunions right now. Congratulations on your success! I have not used the scale at all this go around. I lost 120lbs over 10 years ago but regained 40 or so lbs within the last two years. I just go by how my clothing fits. I'm a half a size to a whole size from fitting in my goal pants. Can't wait!
