Set small obtainable goals each week and month. It will be easier to track things such as in going to lose 3 pounds this week. Or 8 lbs this month. That will help you start motivated and see progress a well as prevent procrastination. Best of luck to you.

Your description jumped right out at me - I'm 42, mom of two teens and ready to lose 30 pounds this year. For me it's the body shape more than the number that I want to tackle in 2016.

  • Hello! I'm 42, married, with 66 to lose in 2016! I lost 88 in 2015, and felt like starting with a clean slate here at my new weight for the new year. Looking for friends!

46 here, lost 90ish since February of this year using MFP and a whole lot of determination and support from friends here on the site. Still about 10-20 more lbs to go to be where I want to be, and currently stalled. But, I feel that 2016 is going to be my year to hit my ultimate goal and stay there. If you need friends feel free to add me.

I gained weight with each of my children. Lost weight and weighed 167. I got complacent and gained back weight. I, currently, weigh 200 lbs

I need to lose 144 lbs. But for a small goal, I need to reach 20 lbs. I'm hoping to do this before April. Hoping to do 2 lbs. a week. I'm ready for this. I need this.

I would love to lose 65 in 2015, but have set a goal of 45 and if I exceed that all the better. I lost 55 using this in 2011 and sadly gained it back...hopefully can make a more permanent difference this time around. Lots of us are with you in this.
