What did you change in your routine that increased your weight loss?

Hi Guys, just looking to get advise on some of the most effective exercises in terms of fat loss. I primarily run, and am super crappy and confused about creating lifting routines (What weight, reps, etc) . I was just wondering if there were any particular exercises you implemented that propelled your fitness/fat loss/muscle building?

your diet is going to be largely responsible for your weight loss. you can do all of the exercise in the world, but if you are eating too much, it doesn't matter where weight management is concerned.
for fitness, you should do whatever it is you enjoy doing. in re to lifting routines, you should go with an established routine as programming your own takes quite a bit of knowledge. there are numerous beginner programs out there. new rules of lifting for women is a great place to start in terms of a good overall general fitness routine; the read alone would be very beneficial.
beyond that, try to look at fitness for the sake of fitness and independent of weight management...while diet and fitness often go hand in hand, they are really two different things...and like i said, you can exercise all you want, but if you're eating too many calories it makes no difference. i ride around 80+ miles per week and lift 2-3x per week and walk my dog regularly and do some hiking and swimming and in general i'm pretty active...i've lost weight, maintained weight, and gained weight doing all of the above...the difference between those three weight management objectives wasn't my exercise, but rather my diet.0 -
First was being honest about my intake.
Second was following a lifting program.
I also started with running because that's how I previously had lost weight. I don't like running and I'm not good at it. Then I started lurking around here and saw what lifting did for some women here and decided to give it a shot. Coupled with the right diet, lifting did wonders for my body. I still run once a week, but lifting is my focus. I started with Stronglifts and now do 5/3/1.0 -
Decreased my caloric intake/tracked calories, decreased steady state cardio and began lifting.0
