Me!
Hi there! My name is Gemima and I am a 34 year old from Australia. I'm kind-of new to MFP, but not to the weight loss journey. In 2007/2008, I lost 44kg. I managed to maintain the loss for 4 years, then I fell pregnant with #1 and gained it back. While losing the pregnancy weight, I fell pregnant to #2. And rinse and repeat.
In the meantime, hubby was made redundant and with some encouragement, he went on to do further study and be the stay @ home dad. I was working fulltime and during his high study times, I took on more home responsibility. Needless to say, I put my needs last. That all changed in October when he graduated (which I am so proud of him for...he has a GPA of 6!) and I told him that I needed to put my health and well being at the forefront. Luckily, I have the most supportive hubby
So some numbers: I started at 111.6kg, and I am working at reducing my weight to 63-65kg. I know this is my sweet weight. I exercise 6 days a week, combining cardio and strength training. I also have added swimming and boxing too.
I have been down this road and I know slow and steady is not only the healthiest, but the most effective for sustaining weight loss and maintenance. I am so glad to have found MFP, because last time, I had no idea how many calories I was consuming and expending. And also there is a community of awesome people who understands this very important journey.
Feel free to add me as a friend!
