Need to get going after all of the holiday indulgences? Get outside for free on a First Day Hike this New Years Day. Hundreds of parks and trails all over the US are participating. Fees are waived. Some will have guides for people who have never been on the trails. Many will have educational and family fun programs so bring the kiddies and the elders too. My hiking club is going to one in a state park 10 minutes from my house. With the snow and ice we got Monday, I will probably be wearing either my snowshoes or my spikes.
