edited December 2015 in Introduce Yourself
The fireworks are already going off in the background where I live. I love Christmas but I can't deal with New Years Eve fever at all so I'm hiding out at home contemplating the year ahead. I have quite a bit to lose but at 1-1.5lbs a week this time next year I could quite comfortably be at goal - which is a lovely thought.

I have to say, it's body conditioning and fitness that are more significant to me than scale weight. I have had a 'year of two halves' in 2015 losing LOTS of weight in the first six months and then piling quite a lot (but not all) of it back on in the last few months. I also got very fit and took up running at the age of 50 which sadly also tailed off. I still have a lot of strength and fitness (which is brilliant) but have definitely lost some tone and flexibility recently.

Since kicking myself for self-sabotaging my own progress isn't really working for me I have decided to draw a line in the sand. And what better time for a fresh start than New Year's Eve?! I have already tailed off my sugar consumption going 'cold turkey' the day after Boxing Day - so that gives me a head start.

BTW cold turkey - geddit? Hopefully my gags will improve this year also ;)

Good luck everyone!

Maria

Hi Maria :) I'm glad to hear your motivation hasn't stopped, and that you at least still have some stamina left! Its been almost two years since I've worked out...so I'm beginning from square one. How much weight do you estimate you have to lose to get fit and conditioned? I'd like to keep each other motivated through this weight loss journey! I'll add you if that's alright :)

I think with each 7lbs it gets easier and easier. There is so much information out there these days. All the websites say that HIIT / plyometrics are best for rapid weight loss and muscle gain. Personally I need to concentrate more on flexibility and alignment with yoga and Pilates. I'm very happy to take it slow and I'm planning on lots of long, country walks this year.
