A couple of quick questions on treadmills- I prefer to walk outside but with the snow, I'll be walking indoors for the next few months. Do you burn more calories when your arms are at your sides rather than grasping the machine? Also, is it better to use an incline?

You should only hold the rails as support/balance. To hold on to them otherwise takes effort away from the exercise. Incline is a good way to add intensity. 2 - 3% is the equivalent to walking outdoors. Above that is added intensity. Mixing incline and speed can make for a very good workout. Mixing things up will help you build cardiovascular fitness. Enjoy!
