A new year and I'm starting another diet and fitness regime. I have a wedding in October to attend, I'm going to lose my excess weight of 49 pounds and reach my goal weight sooner rather than later.

Counting calories works. Don't give up. Log faithfully.
I often pre-log the night before.
I bought a digital food scale (buy one).
Focus on getting a lot of protein and 25 grams of daily fiber if you can.
Please take a before picture, and post your results under success stories in October. See you then.
