Can't control appetite without exercise

Anytime I can't do my daily exercise my diet just goes out the window! Last week it was the weather and now I've got a cold and can't work out. I just want to eat!! Any tips? I feel like exercise is another drug for me, which isn't healthy either. I just can't "be."

I struggle with the same issue. I seem to di much better food wise on days I work out for an hour or so.
But on "down" days, even a short home workout-- 15 minutes of yoga, a 10 - minute walk around the block, or 10 minutes of calesthenics or free weights-- helps give me that "yes I've worked out" feeling, that keeps my food choices in line.0 -

Yeah I guess I should just do 10 minutes and tel myself I worked out! It's mostly a mental thing.0 -
1200 cals is pretty meager. i workout to eat LOL
but on days where i cant or dont, i dont feel bad eating at maintenance (for me, around 1700/ cas), either. i spent most of the last 3 months eating at maintenance (technically above cause i was still working out). no harm, no foul lol0 -
Even with a cold, you might still be able to do something easy, like yoga, walking around the house, or a YouTube walking video (look up Leslie Sansone - fun stuff there).
And, keep your deficit in mind. If you're at a 1lb/week deficit, that's 500 calories that you can eat, in addition to what MFP is giving you. Eating that number of calories won't make you gain weight, just makes it take a little longer to get to goal. And, of course, you wouldn't want to consistently be eating that extra 500, though it's fine to do so while you're ill. Food is fuel, and the body needs fuel to recover.

How long has this been the case? Exercise is my big trigger to maintain other good habits, but gradually the individual habits become ingrained without the additional reinforcement from exercise.0

Just move if you can. Walking, dancing to the radio, march in place in front of the TV...anything that moves blood away from your stomach and into your big muscles can help curb appetite.
Unless you do a lot...then the burn can make you more hungry, but not right away.0
