Great seeing this post from the past.
I read it back when I rejoined MFP for the 2nd time, in April 2016. Feel its a good time to add my update.
I had been a yo yo dieter for almost 30 years prior. Always lost weight, stopped dieting either at goal or because "life" got in the way. Then regained on a constant basis & always for different reasons.
But this time I needed something permanent, as my health was really suffering. I needed to find a plan that worked for me, permanently.
I took time and searched the forums for as much help and information as possible. Looking for great advice, while sifting through what wouldn't help me.
Fortunately this was one of the threads I came across. As it helped (me to) change my way of life.
My progress & sucess story since.
*1,364 days later; logging all, every day, no matter what. Finding balance I needed.
*Finding solutions to problems, ways to help. Rather than putting diet on hold. (For a day or two, turning into days, weeks, months and sometimes years, before returning to my diet. As I has regained, sometimes shocked at how much, in a short space of time.)
*50lb lost & more importantly, this time I have stayed around goal. As I have learnt what calorie goals suit me at this weight, for my lifestyle.
*Finally feeling in control of my weight and really enjoying what I eat. In general making every calorie count.
Would like to say Thanks to @ninerbuff, for giving me the tools I needed to achieve my goals. Changed my life (& health) for tbe better.
Along with all the others who take time out of their day's to help others here on the forums.4 -

Pay attention to #7. Without a plan for when things go sideways, well, you might end up off the rails and often that's when people quit. So you went sideways. Get back on track as soon as you can and keep moving forward.
As always, @ninerbuff , a helpful, insightful post. Thanks for that.0
