Fit bit questions

I don't understand the logging exercise on Fitbit versus MFP. Today I burned 600 cals during a workout. I understand not to double track, so I just left it on Fitbit- but it is going in as active minutes. When I hit 'track exercise, and log it in on Fitbit (to see how much I spent in my target zone), it decreased my overall calorie use by over 400. It adjusted the exercise from almost 600 (based on the device and my heartrate) from 260. This made both calorie counters go out of whack. I deleted the exercise tracking and it went back to the original burn, but this means I'm not able to track in zone! Help would be appreciated!
