Hi everyone I'm Harrison! I have an extensive history with working out and whatnot but I haven't achieved any great goals yet. So I thought I'd come to this community with like-minded people and reciprocate the motivation!

Now, my situation is that my job involves hard labor (construction) for long hours. It's hard to make my gains when I'm physically drained each day. Any tips on how to get around this without burning myself out??
Also, happy new year!

Hello Harrison! I also have a physically demanding job so I know exactly where you are coming from. I work 12+ hr days operating a cleaning service. I am often lifting furniture, carrying commercial size shampooers and vaccums all day and it is exhaustive!
I made it a point to go to the gym 3-4 days a week directly after work . if I went home first, I knew I wouldn't end up going. So I keep a gym bag in my car now all the time.
Another option would be to work out before work . get up an hour earlier each day and do it before work ( I'm not a morning person so couldn't hang with that routine) you could also maybe do 1 or 2 gym visits during the week and then go on both Saturday and Sunday.
Remember that diet has a lot do with with any goals ( whether it be weight loss or weight gain or even maintaining weight) So keep your calories in check :)
After a few months of forcing myself into this going to gym before I was allowed to drive home, it became habit. I wasn't so tired after a while and was able to achieve my goals.
Best of luck to you !

Thanks for the great input! I think nutrition might be my bff on this next job coming up for me. Do you push yourself to go workout even when you're exhausted when it's the day to hit the gym? Do you give yourself a break when your body is drained or do you ignore the fatigue and go 100% anyway?
