Soup using frozen veggies?

I love soups (blended only though), but I can't justify making them when broccoli is $3 a pound and cauliflower $5 for a small head...
Does anyone have good recipes using frozen veggies? I admit I haven't experienced much with different kinds, I typically stick to butternut squash or cauliflower/leek/onion (with or without potato). I don't like soups with chunks so I typically blend them.
Suggestions? I guess I could try and blend random bags of frozen veggies but I'm a bit scared of the result, lol.

I mostly use a variety of frozen veg and fruits and once they cook for a bit, they blend easily with my immersion blender. They have just as much flavor.
I even roast frozen veg .... roast then put into a soup is yummy.

Yes frozen veggies work great in soup. I think it's hard to get a bad result combining random veggies. It just depends on your personal preferances, so experiment away!0

I've never dared roasting.. worried they'll be too wet and end up mushy?0 -
They will be softer than fresh, but not mushy and they still brown and crisp if you go that far. I mostly do it with broccoli spears and cauliflower.0

I eat a LOT of soup! I usually start by sweating an onion in a stock pot and adding a can of diced tomatoes plus 3 cans of water and some garlic powder. Then it's veggie time. My favorite frozen veggies include "California Blend"-- carrots, cauliflower and broccoli, and cauliflower; and "Stir Fry" blends that include snap peas mushrooms, carrots, and peppers.
That basic tomato/onion/garlic stock can be seasoned differently depending on my mood:
* Mexican- chili powder, cumin and garlic :
* Italian-- a little rosemary, italian herb blend and garlic
* Indian-- some curry or garam masala and cumin
* Asian with a dash of fish sauce and soy0
