In food business/ social situations. What do you do?

I own a lovely high end cocktail place and periodically have to meet there for drinks. Part of the job. Then last night- after all food was planned and eaten, good friends called up and said lets get a drink. We never get to see them with a new baby and all- so I ended 500 over. It could have been worse. I am glad I saw them. But when I had a cocktail, then my resistance was down and I had snacks. I will exercise today. I know this is a marathon not a sprint. What do you all do?
