I know some of you eat subway subs. I tried the turkey avocado yesterday and had the worst bloating / trouble all afternoon, night and into today. Have you tried the avocado there? Do they use a lot of preservatives in the avocado to keep it green? I've had turkey sandwiches without any issues prior to this.... Just curious. I can rule everything else out since it stuff i normally eat whereas subway is not. It was a craving

I love a turkey avocado sub. Never had any issues. Hmmm - I don't know what keeps it so green because I thought there was more in it but Mr. Google told me otherwise: http://eatdrinkbetter.com/2011/06/24/whats-in-subway-avocado/
Except when you click on the PDF they provide it really has: AVOCADO PUREE Avocado pulp, water. ascorbic acid.0 -
thanks for the link, It could very well have been something else with preservatives or such that gave me such an issues:frown:
I guess I'll stick to making my own lunch from now on, As often happens, it just didn't taste as good as it sounded :laugh:0 -
never tried the avocado...I stick with tuna or meatball0

Usually, if I have avocado, it's sliced right there in front of me.0

Ascorbic acid is just a form of vitamin C. So no worries there.
EDIT: It'll probably be the ascorbic acid which is keeping it green - it's an anti-oxidant, and browning is due to oxidation. It's just the same trick as rubbing lemon juice on the cut face to prevent browning.0 -
Don't know the answer to your question about bloating....but in terms of keeping it green...
I don't know if subway does the same thing...but I used to work at a Mexican restaurant and learned that they keep the pit in the mix because it keeps the guacamole from turning brown I use the same trick at home now. So they could be doing that, possibly.0
