anyone done this before? Know any good ways to take it. Having trouble going to the bathroom the past week. Think it will help cleanse me.

Nope. Sounds very dangerous. You know, your liver and kidneys do all the work for you without any thought.0

the trollage is strong tonight.0

Salt dehydrates you.
Pro tip: Don't do it.0 -
I'd just go for prune juice, or prunes or dried apricots with a chaser of a gallon of coffee. Will "cleanse" you right out!0

that sounds very bad.

Or even coffee, lots and lots of coffee0

Well, if you are constipated, then yes, it will definitely help "cleanse" you. Not sure they even put the directions for that on the package anymore, though; its such an old-fashioned remedy. I'd be VERY cautious about dosing yourself unless you can find a package with dosage info. You really do not want to take too much! I'm pretty sure that newer remedies are gentler on system, too, in terms of how much water they draw out of the rest of you and into your colon. If you want to use that particular medicine for some reason, Milk of Magnesia is basically epsom salt in drinkable form - I think they still make that.0

Are you sure you aren't thinking of an Epsom salt bath? I hear that is nice and relaxing and if you use soap, there's your cleanse!0

Epsom salts= magnesium sulfate. You're better off using milk of magnesia or prune juice and increasing fluid intake if you're constipated, not for 'cleanses'/weight loss (dangerous and ineffective).
The bath sounds lovely, too.0 -

It won't "cleanse" you but it will have a laxative effect. Why would you want to do something so extreme?0 -

Maybe they got confused and meant Epsom salt enema? (Doubt it though)0 -
Epsom salts are a laxative and work by drawing water into the colon--which will, indeed, loosen your stools but can also leave you dehydrated. Be careful and drink plenty of water!!!!0

This. Its 1 tablespoon of epsom salts to 1 cup of water for laxative purposes. I see your op states your constipated....and this will help! No good for weight loss though.0 -
if you can drink it it will break things loose so to speak. but I wouldnt do it often. my grandpa did and the more he used it the more he had to rely on it just to go to the bathroom. I think I would go with something a little more gentle many better options out there. and if you arent getting enough fiber in your diet then get more,if too much scale back.0

I think this is like the stuff you have to drink before a colonoscopy. It will definitely clean you out, but it is quite drastic. Have you tried metamucil or other alternatives?0

Golytely is polyethylene glycol - an osmotic-type laxative. So is epsom salt, laxative type-wise. So, yeah, pretty much the identical effect.

Eat right and exercise. It's the only diet you will ever need.0

It has a laxative effect. Probably there are directions on the package. Or ask a pharmacist for instructions.0

Epsom salt is a VERY effective laxative. Mix a couple tbs with water, drink it down. Be warned, it tastes like death.0
