I may have overdone it with the elliptical. I have hip pain that started yesterday. I want to keep exercising, but that was my only means (other than walking). Can anyone recommend a low impact, home-based exercise to replace the elliptical for a few days or a week? I don't have any other equipment other than an exercise band.

Swim? Is the hip pain in the front hip flexors? If so, do some yoga for runners videos off you tube. They help tremendously! My fav poses for the hips are childs pose, pidgeon, and the one that looks like a deep lunge.0

You may want to stretch before the elliptical to warm hip flexor. You may need to rest to prevent further longer lasting injury.
Alternatively gentle yoga, Leslie sansone walking vids on YouTube Chris Powell the workout level one on YouTube as well also foam roller on your hips may help pain.0 -
I like to walk when all else fails. It helped me lose most of my 50ish lbs.0

Thanks everyone. I ended up cranking down the resistance on the elliptical a couple of notches and going at a slow pace for 25 minutes. My hip feels better after! I do need to mix it up, though.0

You might try a stationary bike--particularly if you can find a recumbent one.0
