Need energy

I don't know if this is the right forum so sorry if it's not. I'm half way through P90X and I also do a half an hour PT session once a week.
I know it's probably not the best thing to do but if I'm doing a really early workout I won't eat.
Iv been finding that after a workout though I'm totally exhausted even after having something to eat and a coffee.
What works for you food wise? Should I look into pre or post workout supps? My only problem is I don't like powdered stuff. I use to take Oxy Elite Pro, Albutrex and Black Bombs but it got to the point where I couldn't stomach the taste. I recently tried Green Tea TX100 and couldn't drink it as it reminded me of the previous ones I mentioned.
I'm fine doing my workout it's just afterwards.
