I am really interested in this way of eating, would love advice.

No. This would not work for me at all. 500 calories is nothing.. and I imagine I would overeat on the alternate days, thus negating any losses. It's a fad diet. Y0

My fathers friend has been maintaining the 5:2 diet for about the last three years. He went from an estimated 210 pounds to 160. He loves the diet now, although in the beginning he said it was a struggle until his body adapted to it, he has set days he does the reduced calories (mon/thurs) which I think was to build the routine.0
