I have been training non stop for the last 7 months. I'm considering taking a few days off. How often do you take a break and for how long?

Didn't you hurt your back and are on a break anyway?

Yes I hurt my back but the doctor said I can still work my upper body so no I'm not on a break.

You’re talking about a deload week. It’s a good idea, and there are different ways to approach it. Here’s an article on it:

    muscleforlife.com/deload-week/

I had been taking a deload week after ten weeks of lifting, then read that someone my age (61) should probably be taking a break every six weeks. So that was my new plan. But then my shoulder started acting up and I was forced to take a week off early. That happened a couple times. Now I’ve been off for the last two weeks. My shoulder is still a little sore at times, so I’m still not lifting. But I’m dying to get back into it.

Break or just deload? I generally take a break when we go on vacation somewhere where there is no convenient gym, or if I get sick. I deload about every 12 weeks.
