Alcohol and Food Digestion

Ok, so it is widely known that drinking alcohol impairs food digestion (aka delays fat burning).

Big question is, as long as its just a delay, why would that be a bad thing?

I purposefully ate two real small meals today (totalling around 800 calories) + burned 500+ (conservative) calories working out....

Then proceeded to have 5 drinks (diet + booze). Afterwards had a semi-guilty cheat meal of a 700 calorie JJ unwich (still no carbs).

So what exactly is the downside here? Technically will meet all my macros (probably wont lose weight but wont gain either).

Fat metabolism is "delayed" but does it really matter if in the end it gets burned?! Interesting key question. (Usually I keep my drunk munchies in check, but I hadn't eaten much at all today).
