Exercises to build muscle to help with hypermobility?

So I've had HS all my life, and today I saw my rheumatologist because I've been experiencing some pretty terrible pain in my joints - mostly in my hips and shoulders, sometimes elsewhere. I also have scoliosis.
She said that I have to have super strong muscles, stronger than an average person, because my joints are more bendy than is normal, so I have to make up for that with muscle strength because as it is my muscles can't support my joints while they're going all over the place.
My joints will never stop being hypermobile, so the only thing I can do is manage my pain. But the thing is, my pain sometimes stops me from working out - it's not an excuse, as I have no problem with exercising, it's honest to god 'I think I'm gonna pass out' pain, and I have a very high pain tolerance.
So what I'm asking is, what exercising can someone of moderate fitness with these conditions do to increase muscle strength drastically in a fairly short amount of time? I know it will take time and dedication, but I'd like to improve as fast as possible. I'm planning on going hiking with friends and I don't want to have to cancel because my joints are hindering me in doing what I want.
As it is I do not have a gym membership and cannot afford one at present. I'm a student, we're notoriously poor. I currently use my exercise bike at least 4 times a week and cycle 10 miles each time at gear 6/8, completing my miles in around 25 minutes. I'm starting the 30DS again too, and do pilates occasionally, which I know I should do more of for my joints.

hi ive always had it too, consultants recommended i do not do yoga as im already over flexible but when i looked into it i found the reason why i had started to have pain is because i used to do alot of yoga type stretches in gymnastics (i just didnt know it was yoga then ha) to warm up when i was younger so maybe that was why id had started to get pain when i stopped at 18.
i started doing my stretches again (yoga) and found it went away and that was after childbirth too. pregnancy releases hormones that relax the muscles etc. for your pelvic area to dislocate during childbirth and already being hyper extensive ment i was in agony felt like my hips were dislocated most of the time :P definately do yoga when your pregnant too with this condition it really supports the joints and keeps you supple if your not already.0 -
Find a holdall, backpack, potato bag, whatevs. Fill it with heavy stuff. Start squatting it, deadlifting it and pressing it.
A bar would be preferable, but there is always another way Those 3 exercises will give you the best foundation of strength I can think of.0
