Squeezing tummy in and tightening buttocks(contracting muscles) at various intervals during the day... Does this help anything?

Help anything? Well I suppose it will minimally exercise those muscles...moreso than not doing so.

Alone, it's not going to give you a six-pack and massive booty or anything though.

It won't make any difference that you'll be able to see.

You'd be better off doing kegels instead.

It warms them up for the main lifts. It teaches you to activate them. If you generally never use the muscle it will help strengthen it to a basic level.

I mean, it is an isometric exercise and will give you some benefits. The question is will it provide the benefit you are looking for?
