What are the best exercises for losing weight, is it cardio or weight lifting? Also, are morning workouts better vs. evening workouts? What should you eat before and after to achieve the best results.

I've heard on these forums that table push aways, and fork put downs are the best exercises. I think AnvilHead is a big proponent of them.
Anways, eat at a deficit to lose weight. Exercise for fitness and sometimes to eat a bit more food. I'm a big fan of combining a deficit with weight lifting to retain muscle mass while losing weight. Also, meal timing doesn't really matter, so eat whatever you want before/after. I tend to eat Chocolate covered coffee beans before lifting, and often drink a protein shake after. I have my reasons, but I don't expect any magic due to the timing.0 -

Fat loss comes from what and how much you eat.
Exercise should be done to reach other fitness goals (strength, cardiovascular, mobility, balance, endurance, etc.) When I’m working with a client, I have them set one to three fitness goals besides fat loss and we do multiple forms of exercise to meet those goals. To be able to meet those other fitness goals, you’ll need to eat back the calories you work off. But if you have a small to moderate calorie deficit you’ll lose fat as well.

Exercise is for fitness and health. The best exercise is one that you can personally do and like for life. Calorie deficit is for weight loss and exercise can help with achieving it, but it still comes down to how much you take in then burn off.
