Seriously? Does anyone else have the problem of not being able to have a decent BM ??
Since I've cut out all the rubbish from my diet... i literally only go about 3 times a week. I really want to go everyday!?

I hate prunes and figs so that's a no no! any ideas?

Add more fats and oil. Also, the pharmacy will have stool softeners. Usually their main ingredient is magnesium.

Lots of water. I find when I don't drink enough water I find it harder to do a number 2. Also canteloupe and grapes :)

Fiber One brownies are pretty tasty.

So are black beans, navy beans, great northern beans, pinto beans, red beans, chili beans...

Assorted other vegetables could help as well. Just not celery. Celery is gross.

    Also, black coffee (taken orally).

Take a fiber supplement, drink LOTS of water and eat your vegetables. Avoid rice, white bread, apples and unripe bananas.

Why avoid apples? If I eat a whole apple, I assure you, a BM will happen whether I like it or not.

I always know I'm overeating because #2 will happen every day. I'm personally pretty happy having it happen 2-3 times a week. I do drink coffee and take a daily fiber supplement, to make sure I'm not constipated, but as my GP told me when I mentioned it to him "Less garbage in, less garbage out. "

I never thought of it like that. Genius!

I eat what most people would consider a clean diet plenty of fiber and water. Have a sit down 2-3 times a day.

There is much variation in "normal" toilet habits.

I don't know why, but the combo of your screen name and the topic, particularly the sentence "have a sit down 2-3 times a day," really made me giggle.

OP - do you actually feel uncomfortable (bloated, crampy, etc) with your new schedule, or do you just feel like you "should" be going more often? Packer up there is right, there definitely is much variation in "normal" habits, even for the same person depending on their diet. If you're not having symptoms of constipation, then carry on - it might just be your new normal that accompanies better eating habits. If you are, as many others have mentioned, keeping your fiber AND water up (increasing fiber without enough water will be counterproductive, trust me), eating enough fats, and getting in some daily activity will be your best friends.

Because apples, rices, bananas and toast are all part of the BRAT diet. The brat diet if was it recommended when someone has vomiting/diarrhea, in other words it is a binding diet. It will produce the exact opposite results.

Get a probiotic. My doc recommended Align. You can get it at most stores including Walmart.

Are your bathroom trips uncomfortable or difficult?

If they're not then I wouldn't worry about it.

I find a six twelve pack of your favorite beer will often create the desired effect.

I have to agree with everyone that said coffee. I have a giant black coffee every morning and I swear it works in like 30 minutes.

BRAT is recommended for vomiting/diarrhea because those foods are typically easy to digest and non-irritating to the gut. Not because it's a binding diet.

Trust me on this. Eating apples can be a very effective laxative. OP, dried apples can be particularly effective (lots of fiber, little bulk).

Do keep in mind that if you increase your fiber, make sure you're getting enough water or it can have the opposite effect than what you intend. Increasing fats, on the other hand, are pretty much guaranteed to get things moving.

Lentils and a glass of water. I find if I make lentil loaf for dinner my guts will definitely be gurgling by morning

Nope. They are considered "binding foods".
