CRAVINGS!!

Recently read in a post, "What do I do about craving food and alcohol"? My response, since I do didn't know the person, was to ask if the alcohol is a problem in itself. If not, then persevering through the cravings is the only way around the desire, and pretty soon the desire would dissipate.
Earlier this morning I was talking with a friend about this very subject. I told her that in order to lose weight, I really can't eat sweets, junk food, have 2nds, or drink alcohol. " Doesn't sound like much fun," she said. And therein lies the problem.
I am not one who likes feeling deprived. This is my program that I chose so I get to decide how to use my alotted calories. The key is in PLANNING the day, being honest and reasonable, while recognizing my natural desires. So, what works for me? Knowing myself helps. I ask myself what it is I really want to eat, and I record whatever it Is I have decided, and do it with honesty.
I have goals and I have a certain caloric range. It is mine to determine how I use it. If I want a glass of wine, I have to fit it into my caloric range. Same with sweets. There are no dictators here; I get to monitor myself. How freeing is that? What I do know is that my body needs good nutrition, not empty calories so for me, this is a sometimes thing, and if I decide to go over my caloric range, that's my decision too.
Do this, one day at a time for you can do anything for a certain period of time that which would seem impossible if you thought you had to do it forever. Have a successful day!
